Confused by the current controversy over mammography screenings?

We aren't. Until science improves, Komen believes the current screening recommendations – mammograms every year beginning at age 40 for women of average risk - should remain. Click here to see how we are speaking out to protect access to mammograms.

What can you do to help? Click here and sign the Komen Advocacy Alliance petition to help us ensure that all women have access to this life-saving screening. Want to find out more about Komen’s current screening guidelines? Click here.

We Want to Hear Your Story

Komen Richmond is looking for Survivors and Co-survivors to share their breast cancer story how it was detected, how you felt, and how you battled your way back to good health. We will highlight personal experiences throughout the year on our website and in our e-newsletter in order to educate and inspire others to get involved in the fight against breast cancer.

If you are willing to be interviewed, please click here and submit your story for consideration.

Free Mammograms

The Virginia Dept. of Health's "Every Woman's Life" program provides eligible women with a free mammogram.

Breast  Self-Awareness

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women, but can be successfully treated if caught early.

Breast self-awareness and breast cancer screening are of paramount importance. Komen Richmond recommends that you:

  • Know your risks.
  • Know what is normal for you.
  • Make healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Get screened.
